Job Title:  Embedded Systems Engineer

Salary Range:  Hourly $38-58/hr depending on experience ($79k-121k/yr @ 2080 hrs/yr).  Opportunities exist for work beyond 40hrs/wk.

Job Description:

As an embedded systems engineer…

        • Your primary responsibility will be developing and implementing software and firmware for embedded systems
        • You will work hands-on to integrate microprocessor and microcontroller based hardware with sensors, actuators, and peripherals for basic system health and status monitoring, autopilots controls, payloads interfaces, data acquisition and more
        • You will design and integrate embedded systems for networked communication
        • You will test, debug, and demonstrate systems in the lab and in the field
        • You will document designs, bugs and develop and implement tests
        • You will assist in new business development by contributing to and shaping proposals efforts
        • You will support multiple projects, as assigned, in a dynamic and fast-paced environment


You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you:

        • Have a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other relevant technical discipline
        • Have 3 years of relevant experience working with embedded systems and embedded programming
        • Have programming skills in high and low level programming languages including C/C++, Python, MATLAB/SIMULINK, LabVIEW, machine and assembly language
        • Have significant experience and detailed working knowledge of embedded hardware such as microprocessors, microcontrollers and their interface circuits
        • Have experience with real time operating systems and proficiency in Windows and Linux build environments including command line and shell commands
        • Have experience with developing firmware for real-time I2C, SPI, USB, UART, and other serial protocols
        • Have experience with networked communication using TCP/IP, CAN, DDS, UDP, NMEA2000
        • Have expertise in troubleshooting and resolving electronic issues using oscilloscopes, DVM’s, logic analyzers, protocol sniffers
        • Have experience and ability to interpret hardware and PCB schematics
        • Have experience in basic control theory implementations such as PID
        • Have strong communications and teamwork skills
        • Are a quick learner, good problem solver and are able to work independently when tasked
        • Have a strong ability to work well in a group atmosphere, and comply with high quality standards
        • Have experience throughout the entire development cycle, including specification, design, integration, building, testing, documentation, QA, and release
        • Are familiar with issue tracking and software version control (using Git or similar)

You would impress us even more if you:

        • Have a M.S. in a relevant Engineering discipline
        • Have 6+ years of relevant experience working with embedded systems and embedded programming
        • Have experience in system modeling and simulation
        • Have experience in linear and nonlinear control theory implementation
        • Have experience managing small and medium sized projects and/or teams
        • Have experience in designing and implementing PCBs…experience with Altium a plus
        • Have a Security Clearance or an ability to obtain a clearance
